Charities

I will continue to support the good work of charities by advocating their fantastic achievements in helping people rebuild their lives. The internet is a powerful tool in bringing about change in society and I believe these charities are pushing the boundaries of what we can do to make this world a better place.

At the beginning of 2010 we faced an unprecedented humanitarian crisis as millions were made homeless in Haiti by an earthquake that flattened dense residential areas of Port-Au-Prince. The international community stepped its efforts to help on rebuilding the infrastructure and getting much needed food aid to Haitians. The response led to many tribute concerts, charities and international donations that symbolised how the world is so closely interconnected. The Fuller Center was one of the many charities that took part, heading over to the disaster zone to immediately work on providing long term reconstruction efforts.

Sean Penn, one of many high profile figures didn’t hesitate to make the journey and join in the efforts. Support the Fuller center today and get active in your communities.

Make it right

The hurricane in New Orleans shocked me to the core when I saw how the world’s most powerful nation was brought to its knees by an environmental disaster. Friends of mine who have homes in New Orleans told me of the devastation to the community.

Back in 2007 Brad Pitt stepped in to help, bringing in partners and much needed funds to start the rebuilding of homes destroyed in the lower 9th ward. The development of sustainable/eco housing is the way forward and this charity has used the internet to create an international appeal whilst showing people with videos/galleries how their money has helped give so much to those who were left with nothing.

3rd world poverty affects our common humanity and one of the greatest gifts we can give to hardworking people is the chance to make their communities successful by building their businesses.

Kiva is an innovative charity that allows people from around the world to loan money to entrepreneurs from around the world who need micro financing to expand their businesses. Once loans are paid back, this money can then be given to other entrepreneurs who want to improve their services and invest in new technologies to increase productivity.

This kind of international collaboration through the Kiva website allows us to donate and see the progress of entrepreneurs who are making their lives successful and is a powerful message to others who also want to succeed.
