This week I have a new column with the excellent Technorati website, the world’s leading blog search engine and tech news site with an index of over 100 million blogs. Technorati is also in the top 1000 websites according to Alexa.

I will be writing on a regular basis about the changes that are happening in the entertainment industry from blogging to social media, and how people are using technology to improve their own personal branding. These articles will also cover celebrities who use web 2.0 techniques to market themselves using the internet, bringing them one step closer to their fans.

I recently had the privilege to sit down with Paramount VP Oliver Tena, who shared with me the intricacies of the film business. We spoke about film distribution, what makes a movie successful and how others can find opportunity in this competitive industry.

Paramount not only produces blockbuster movies every year, but acts as a global distributor. This includes titles from DreamWorks (animations), the production company founded by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen

Just to give you a bit of information regarding Bloginity Networks for those of you reading this who don’t know about them, they have a wide variety of articles ranging from fashion to music, film and photography, with some great exclusive interviews. Just this past week Bruno Mars came to talk about his career which is on a high as he continues to propel his music to the next level.

Something that we really don’t get to see is how people stay focused when they want to achieve something. What I really appreciated when speaking with Audrina was her determination and passion for what she does, and also how she dedicates a lot of her time to being in the best physical shape. If you have a look at all the successful people you see on TV, most spend a great deal of time taking care of themselves which many of us don’t do. Exercise is irreplaceable!

I wanted to thank Dominic, Jay and Jessica for there incredible support this year at the Cannes Film Festival. It was a pleasure doing interviews with you, and also acting in your short movie ‘Get Access’. This year we had a great opportunity to meet people making a difference in the entertainment industry from filmmakers to cinematographers and producers. In November 2009 I launched the Film Industry Network website, an entertainment resource to help people in the creative industries to learn more about their field, to find new people to collaborate with and to promote upcoming talent. I also wanted to include jobs and particularly competitions.

Since its launch, the site has been viewed by people in more than 130 countries. The network has helped people discover ways to start their careers, and learn from professionals already successful.

Our recent competitions include the BBC’s My World documentary contest and Peter Jackson’s Your Big Break, supported by the New Zealand tourist board. These are some of the many high profile competitions being promoted through the network.
